The challenge
The brand shipped truckloads from two import warehouses straight to its stores, and most trailers left half empty. Stores received up to three deliveries a week at unpredictable times, and receiving crews spent an average of 2 hours 50 minutes unloading each trailer.
Freight spend kept climbing, and store managers had stopped trusting delivery windows enough to schedule staff around them.
What we did
We moved their inbound freight through our cross-dock on Alum Creek Drive in Columbus. Containers and vans arrive overnight, freight is sorted by store and route, and trucks leave on fixed weekly windows the next morning.
Store-ready pallets built in route order and labeled by department
One delivery window per store per week, agreed with each store manager
Pallet photos and seal numbers sent before the truck leaves the dock
An advance ship notice in the store’s inbox 24 hours ahead
What changed
38%
less time unloading at each store
220
stores on one fixed weekly window
22%
fewer trailers on the road each week
